Are my tethers too long? I can touch my chin to my chest with the device on.

  • No.
  • The HANS Device comes properly adjusted for all drivers. Unless you have changed the tether length it is fine and will work in an impact.
  • The HANS Device is the only head & neck restraint that allows exceptional vision via slack tethers and exceptional safety due to the way it works.   • The one exception to this situation is drag racers who want some relief from the head-banging that occurs when they open their parachutes. Reducing the slack in the HANS Device tethers allows the device to catch your head before it bangs forward due to chutte deployment.
  • Shorter tethers are not safer. Shorter tethers simply give you less vision on track while offering no advantage in an impact. Do not shorten your tethers!
